The Santa Clara County Home Composting Education Program will hold a one-day composting bin sale on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the former BEST store at Hamilton Avenue and San Tomas Expressway in Campbell. The Earth Machine will be available for $35, which includes tax, and residents will be able to buy as many machines as they want--but only 1,000 will be on hand. For information, call 299-4147. Noted educator to speak to WVRWF The West Valley Republican Women, Federated will host a "Coffee with Gloria Hom" at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Saratoga Country Club, located at 21900 Prospect Road. Hom is scheduled to review November ballot propositions. Hom, a noted educator and lecturer, is the chairwoman of the Economics Department at Mission College and the division chairwoman for the social sciences division. Also a trustee emeritus of the California State University system, Hom received appointments to federal advisory committees from both President Reagan and President Bush. GGG will explore planning process The Saratoga Good Government Group plans to host an informational meeting covering the process by which projects are reviewed by the Saratoga Planning Commission on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7:15 p.m. in the community room of the Saratoga Community Library. Planning Commission Chairman Mark Pierce, Commissioner Mary-Lynne Bernald and Community Development Director James Walgren will brief the GGG on how development plan and residential remodel decisions are made. There will also be a question-and-answer session. GGG officials say they hope that the public will attend and learn more about the planning process.
