Saratoga NewsSheriff's ReportAssault With Deadly Weapon--Aug. 16, 11:45 a.m., on Highway 85 near Saratoga Avenue. A driver traveling southbound on Highway 85 in the No. 3 lane was suddenly forced onto the shoulder by a car in the No. 2 lane. The victim then got back into the No. 3 lane. The suspect pulled in front of the victim and slammed on his brakes, forcing the victim to hit his brakes and swerve into oncoming traffic. The suspect kept motioning for the victim to pull up near him and then would give him the middle finger. The victim told deputies that this continued for approximately 11.5 miles. Petty Theft--Aug. 15, 8:30 p.m., on De Havilland Court. A resident returned from a vacation to find his four-foot wooden statue of a man with green eyes, wearing ski clothes, missing. No other statues were taken. Vandalism--Aug. 14, 1:30 p.m., on Melinda Circle. A resident told deputies that the postal carrier delivered the mail directly to him because there was some type of firecracker in his mailbox. Deputies found a mammoth-type firecracker glued to the bottom of the mailbox by an unknown suspect. The fuse had been lit but burned out, leaving a burn mark at the bottom of the mailbox. Petty Theft--Aug. 13, 5 p.m., on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. A customer, shopping at a grocery store, left her wallet in the seat of the shopping cart while paying for her items. When she got home, she noticed her wallet was missing. Burglary--Aug. 13, 4:10 p.m., on Miller Avenue. A woman left her purse and cell phone in an unlocked car, parked in an open garage. The items were later missing.
