Author/Teacher will share tips on building self-esteem

Dr. Michele Borba, an internationally known author and teacher--and a Saratoga native--will discuss character development in children and share tips from her new book, Parents Do Make a Difference, in a Los Gatos Union School District/Parent Education Council-sponsored program on Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at Calvary Church, 16330 Los Gatos Blvd. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.

Borba holds a doctorate in educational psychology and counseling, a master's degree in learning disabilities and a teaching credential. She has authored more than three dozen books and school curricula dealing with parenting, self-esteem for students and teachers and other topics. Her Esteem Builders program has been used by more than 1,500,000 students worldwide.

She has contributed to two books from the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, has received many awards in the field of education and, together with her husband, ran a private counseling practice for emotionally troubled children and adolescents in Campbell. She and her family currently live in Palm Springs.
