Planning dept. sets date for housing meeting
On Oct. 5, the Community Development Department will hold a public workshop on the city's housing element.
As required by state law, the department is updating the city's long-range housing plan. Residents are encouraged to attend the community kickoff workshop Oct. 5, at the Senior Center meeting room at 19655 Allendale Ave. The workshop will begin at 7 p.m. Contact the Community Development Department at 408.868.1222.
Our Lady of Fatima to come before planners
Our Lady of Fatima on Saratoga-Los Gatos Road is requesting a use permit and design review approval from the city's planning commission. The project entails replacing the existing convent, priest quarters, chapel and visitor's apartments with an assisted living facility for the elderly, and the interior conversion of the existing skilled nursing facility into assisted living units.
The total number of existing units is 41 and the number of proposed assisted living units is 42. The existing floor area is 50,372 square feet and the proposal's floor area is 68,955 square feet.
The commission will hear the proposal on Sept. 27.
Parks restrooms almost done
Restrooms at three of the city's parks--Wildwood, Congress Springs and El Quito--have been renovated or are expected to be within the next few weeks, according to the city's public works director, John Cherbone. The restroom renovation project is one of five projects that was approved by city's parks and recreation commission and the city council almost a year ago that will be funded with the city's park development fund.
Daughters, moms clean up creek
A group of mothers and daughters helped clean up Calabasas Creek in Saratoga: Jessica and Deborah Stanley, Pat Yates and Allison Smith, Joan and Kate Pisani and Laura and Michelle Kemp. The group is part of the Saratoga-Los Gatos Chapter of the National Charity League, Class of 2001.
