NJB Registration
The National Junior Basketball (NJB) of Saratoga will hold registration for the 2000 season on Oct. 1, noon-2 p.m., at the Saratoga High School gym.
NJB offers a competitive basketball league for boys and girls in the third-through eighth-grades. There is also an instructional clinic program for second-graders.
The registration fee is $150 for players in grades 3-8, $75 for the second-grade clinic. Additionally, families are expected to volunteer their time for contribute a $50 buyout. Each player must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the registration, present a birth certificate and provide proof of residency (PG&E bill).
Registration is a first-come, first-served basis, and players must reside in Saratoga or the Saratoga Union School District.

Pitching program
A program for baseball pitchers that covers fundamentals, arm care and defensive skills for youth players ages 9-12 will be held Tuesday evenings Oct. 17 though Dec. 5 in the gym at West Valley Community College in Saratoga. For more information call Burch Boehner at 408.615.7957.
Super Trot
The Saratoga Super Trot 5K run and walk will be held Sept. 24, 9:30 a.m. The event begins at Benny Pierce Field at Saratoga High School, and the course covers a mostly downhill loop through city streets.
There will also be 50, 200, 400 and 800-meter runs for kids on Saratoga's all-weather track, and family entertainment for children and adults from 9 a.m. to noon.

Carousel to Coaster
The annual Carousel to Coaster 10K run/5K walk returns to Paramount's Great America on Sept. 24, 8:30 a.m. All finishers receive a ribbon plus free admission to the park that day.
The start-finish line and the registration table are in the Great America parking lot, and the course runs through the park and on neighboring streets. The registration fee is $20 on race day.
