    Events will shut down city streets

    To hold Saratoga's 11th annual street party, Celebrate! Saratoga, the city is closing off most of downtown Saratoga to automobile traffic, and will be enforcing parking restrictions on other streets near the Village during the event.

    On Saturday, Sept. 25, the following streets will be closed to vehicles from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.:

    * Big Basin Way from Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road to Sixth Street

    * Third Street from Big Basin Way to the entrance of Village Parking District #4;

    * Forth Street from Big Basin Way to the entrance of Parking Districts #4 and #1;

    * Fifth Street from Big Basin Way to the entrance of Parking District #2;

    * St. Charles Street from Oak Street to Sixth Street.

    There will be no parking from 4 p.m. to 1a.m. on the following streets:

    * Oak Street between Sixth Street and Saratoga-Los Gatos Road;

    * Forth Street from the Saratoga Creek bridge to Big Basin Way;

    * Saratoga-Los Gatos Road on both sides from Oak Street to Horseshoe Drive;

    * Sixth Street.

    Additionally, the Saratoga Community Parade, held on Oct. 3 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., means more road closures in addition to the ones already listed. The following roads will be closed to traffic: Fruitvale, Crestbrook, Rossmere, Barone, Moran, Shadow Oaks, Herriman, Seagraves, Lutheria, Worden, LaPaloma, Orchard and Park Place.

    For more information about Celebrate! Saratoga, call the Chamber of Commerce at 867-0753. For the Community Parade, call 255-7217.

    Councilman to report on 'Hub'

    Saratoga Councilman Nick Streit will give a report on Sept. 28 to members of the Good Government Group and other interested residents on the status of city playfields and the community hub idea.

    Streit will again present a city report that was given by staff to the council weeks ago regarding open-space areas in the city that could potentially be used as hub sites.

    The Good Government Group meeting takes place at the Saratoga Community Library on Sept. 28 at 7:15 p.m.

    For more information, call Al Roten at 252-0131.
