    Sheriff's Report

Theft of found property--Sept. 7, 11 a.m. on Allendale Road. A male subject left his black day planner sitting on the counter of a local business and discovered it was gone. An unidentified man paged the subject and told him he had the property and would return it. The property had not been returned days later and the suspect had not called again. No suspect had been identified.

Petty theft--Sept. 4, 9 a.m. at Saratoga Oaks Lodge. An unknown suspect stole a female victim's wallet from her backpack in her motel room. Only three people, the guest, a manager and a maid, had possession of a key to the room. No suspect had been identified.

Obtaining controlled substances by fraud, deceit or misrepresentation--Sept. 3, 1:35 p.m. on Country Squire Lane. A female suspect attempted to fraudulently obtain a prescription for a controlled substance by misrepresenting herself as a current dental patient. Investigators found five other victims whose names had been used by the suspect. Deputies arrested the woman and booked her into the main jail on narcotics charges.

Grand theft--Sept. 3, 9 a.m. on Goleta Avenue. A subject reported that a suspect had been fraudulently using his credit card number since July. The suspect had charged $723.79 in calls to the card. The victim believed the card might have been obtained during a recent auto burglary. The suspect remained at large.

Vandalism--Sept. 3, 5:30 a.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. A subject noticed glass and fragments of a spark plug on the floor while cleaning a local office. The woman then discovered three holes in the office's glass window. Deputies determined an unknown suspect had thrown a spark plug against the window sometime overnight.
