Saratoga NewsSheriff's ReportVandalism--Sept. 13, 6:30 a.m., on Springer Avenue. A resident heard a loud crash in his back yard. When he went outside to check, he noted a small portion of his fence had been kicked in and a boot print was on the damaged portion. Deputies were directed to a suspect with whom the resident is having problems. Deputies contacted the suspect and requested to see his boots. The bottom of his right boot looked to be the same as the print on the fence. Deputies cited the suspect and released him to his mother. Drunk in Public--Sept. 11, 3 p.m., on Cox Avenue. While investigating a disturbance on Cox Avenue, a deputy noticed a suspect with glassy, watery eyes, thick slurred speech and unsteady gait, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage on him. The deputy determined the man was unable to care for himself and was a potential threat to others. Annoying, Threatening Phone Calls--Sept. 11, 11:50 a.m., on Montrose Way. A mother called to report her son has been calling for the last two weeks asking for favors. The son wants to store property at his mom's house and wants one of her cars. When the mother told him he could not have the car, he threatened to come over and steal it. The mother also placed a hold on the son's mail through the post office. She told deputies she wants no contact with her son. Theft--Sept. 11, 11:35 a.m., on Montrose Way. A woman who went out of town returned to find her birdbath, which had been in the middle of the front yard, was missing. Her roommate said she first noticed the ceramic, dark gray birdbath with scalloped edging and an ornate pedestal missing on Sept. 3. Possessing Dangerous Weapon--Sept. 7, 4 a.m., on Arroyo De Arguello. Deputies searched a vehicle in which the suspect was a front-seat passenger. Under the right front seat, the deputy found a set of steel spiked knuckles attached to a 6 inch "Rambo"-style knife. The suspect said the knife belonged to him and was cited and released to his mother.
