Jim and Helen Carreker of Saratoga announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Elise Carreker, to Edward John "Jay" Leary III, son of Ned and Pat Leary of Lincoln, N.H.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Castilleja High School, Boston College and the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is a transportation planner with Parsons, Brinckerhoff, Quade & Douglas Inc. in Atlanta, Ga.
Her fiancé is a graduate of Newton North High School and the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is an electrical engineer with Scientific Atlanta in Atlanta.
They plan a March 2002 wedding.
