Florence Worrell
Longtime Saratogan Florence Emma Williams Worrell, also known as "Floss," died Sept. 7 at the age of 85.
Born Oct. 11, 1915, in Philadelphia, she and her husband, Raymond "Ray" Worrell, moved to Saratoga in the early 1950s. The couple was one of the founding couples of the Jokers Square Dance Club of Campbell, where they also became honorary life members. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women Chorus (formerly known as Elbon Singers), the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of San Jose and the #62 Chapter of the Electrical Craft Guild.
Worrell was preceded in death by her husband, Ray. She is survived by four children and their spouses: Carol and Dave Lajoie, Merrily R. Worrell, Fredric and Rhea Worrell and Robert Worrell and Claudia Ward. She is also survived by grandchildren Alan, Eric and Heather Lajoie and Joshua and James Worrell; sister Margaret Adele Brown; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later time. Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 2065 W. El Camino Real, Suite C, Mountain View, 94040.
