Saratoga NewsOn CampusCommittee announces upcoming elections The Santa Clara County Committee on School District Organization will hold an election on Nov. 21 to fill three seats, including one for Saratoga's District 5. All candidates who wish to run must be registered voters and reside within the county supervisorial district they wish to represent. While the first, third and fifth districts are up for re-election, Saratoga residents can only run for District 5. No employees of a public school district or of the county Office of Education are eligible to serve, but members of the governing board of a school district are eligible. Interested persons should submit an application consisting of a letter of intent to serve and a brief résumé with background and experience information to the county Office of Education by 5 p.m., Oct. 17. SHS to host third annual Fun Run Saratoga High School will hold its third annual Falcon Fun Run on Sunday, Sept. 28, starting at 11 a.m. All proceeds will go toward the Falcon Track Fund. The walk/run race is a two-mile loop, starting and finishing at Saratoga High School's all-weather track. Trophies will be given to the top three finishers, male and female, in each age group. Several other trophies for various categories will also be given away. Fees are $15 if preregistered and $20 on race day. A special family rate of $50 is available for four family members. Teams are encouraged to enter at a four-person rate of $50. The fun run will also feature a disc jockey, refreshments, bagels, a raffle, family track events and T-shirts. Wheaton College honors Saratogan Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., recently named Saratogan Leslie Tisch to the dean's list for academic performance. The sophomore also received a trustee scholarship in recognition of her achievements. Tisch, the daughter of Tom and Rosemary Tisch, graduated from Castilleja School in Palo Alto. Saratoga schools tee up for math Foursomes from Blue Hills and McAuliffe elementary schools will compete in Cupertino Union School District's golf championship, to be introduced at Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation's 11th annual benefit golf tournament. The championship competition, scheduled for Oct. 10 at the Santa Clara Golf and Tennis Club, is a new feature of the tournament event and will be followed by an awards dinner and auction at 3Com Corporation headquarters in Santa Clara. All proceeds will benefit the district's model mathematics program. Only the first 144 paid entrants may play in the tournament. An entry fee of $150 covers greens fees, a golf cart, practice balls, lunch, tee prizes, the awards dinner and tournament awards. For more information call 446-2333.
