Sheriff's Report

Barking Dog--Sept. 21, 9:20 p.m., on Herriman Avenue. An anonymous caller complained of a chronic dog-barking problem at a Herriman Avenue residence. Upon arrival, the deputy heard the dog barking continuously in the back yard. Neighbors told the deputy no one has lived in the house for the past week due to a marriage breakup. The deputy checked the home and found it vacant. Animal control was called and the dog was taken to the Humane Society.

Residential Burglary--Sept. 21, noon, on Lanark Lane. An unknown suspect cut the screen from the master bedroom window, removed it and crawled inside the home. The suspect took a purse and wallet and then left through the same window.

Grand Theft--Sept. 20, 3 p.m., on Saratoga-Los Gatos Road. The victim reported to deputies that she came to work at a nursing home and left her purse on the pill cart in the hallway while she went into a patient's room for one minute. When she came back, she noticed her purse had been tipped over and her beige wallet containing $500 in cash for a trip to Reno, for which she was just getting ready to leave, was missing. There are no suspects or witnesses.

Vandalism--Sept. 20, 3 p.m., on Fruitvale Avenue. An unknown suspect threw a 10-foot pole through a schoolroom window. There were no fingerprints on the pole.

Possession of drug paraphernalia--Sept. 19, 11:30 a.m., on Prospect Avenue. An adult senior high school student was caught smoking marijuana on school grounds along with a 17-year-old student who fled the scene. The adult student was cited and released.

Residential Burglary--Sept. 17, 12:20 p.m., on Braemar Court. The week before, the victim noticed a $400 air compressor missing from his garage along with a handicap placard missing from his vehicle. The victim believes the items were stolen from his garage by using the side door when he was not home. There was no sign of forced entry.
