Chamber names citizen of the year

The Saratoga Chamber of Commerce has named Les Landin the 2001 Saratoga Citizen of the Year. Landin, who community members call "Grandpa Les," volunteers weekly--and some weeks daily--at Saratoga Elementary School. He visits classrooms and works with students, tells them stories about Saratoga history and draws cartoons about historical characters. Landin, whose goal is to create an intergenerational community, wants students to know who came before them and their responsibility in building the future.

The Chamber will honor Landin on Oct. 4 at The Mountain Winery. Cocktails start at 6 p.m., and dinner starts at 7 p.m. For more information, call the Chamber at 408.867.0753.
