Masiello an MVP
Besty Masiello was named a most valuable player and the New England Athletic Conference player of the week after leading the Wellesley College field hockey to the championship in the Seven Sisters Tournament at Mount Holyoke college in South Hadley, Mass.
Masiello, a former Saratoga High School field hockey star, had four goals and an assist in three tournament games for Wellesley. She is currently her squad's top scorer with five goals and 11 points in just five games.
Wellesley won the Seven Sisters tourney for the third straight year, and Masiello was picked the MVP for the second straight season.
The junior co-captain had opened the week by breaking up a scoreless tie with a goal in a 2-0 win over UMass-Dartmouth, and finished the week by scoring the game-winning goal against Swarthmore in the Seven Sisters championship game.
