Saratoga NewsVillage BriefsSummit League benefit shows holiday homes Tickets are now on sale for Homes for the Holidays, a holiday house tour and Summit League benefit featuring three distinctive residences in the Los Gatos area. Held on Dec. 3 and 4, the tour will take visitors through the gabled Tudor estate of Mark and Barbara Beck; the early Craftsman country home of Donald and Nancy Cariani and the 1920s Mediterranean Villa of Robert and Glynne Lewis. The homes will be enhanced for the holidays by interior and floral designers. The Summit League, established in 1957, is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for charities and groups involved in education, health, welfare and the arts throughout the Santa Clara Valley. Proceeds from this event go to the San Jose Family Shelter. For information, call 395-5040. The provocative 'Museum' plays at West Valley Museum, a comical yet provocative play, will be performed Oct. 16-25 at the theater of West Valley College, located at 14000 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga. In the play, a melange of today's "culture vultures" swoop through a gallery, reacting to an artist's exhibit as well as to each other. While poking fun at art snobs, the play also invites the audience to ponder the questions, What is art, and Why should people care? Tickets are $8 general admission and $6 for students and senior citizens. All tickets are sold at the door; the box office opens 45 minutes before each performance. For specific show times or more information, call 741-2058. Players invited to Mah Jongg tourney The South Bay Mah Jongg Mavens, for fans of the ancient Chinese parlor game played with decorated tiles, is planning its first annual Mah Jongg tournament for Oct. 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Congregation Beth David, located at 19700 Prospect Road in Saratoga. Reservations are now being accepted, as space is limited to the first 200 registrants and the group needs to plan ahead. A fee of $18 includes tournament play, a welcoming coffee, lunch and a chance to win door prizes. To register or for information, call Phyllis at 257-5618.
