Although she had it at the spa, she couldn't remember seeing it after that. She said she could have placed it on top of the car before driving away. The purse contained a pair of tinted prescription glasses, $15, four credit cards, the victim's Social Security card, the victim's driver's license and a new book of checks. The victim planned to contact her credit card companies and bank to cancel her accounts.

The car was hidden in heavy shrubbery and couldn't be seen from the road. Once firefighters confirmed there were no passengers in the car, they reported it as stolen to the San Jose Police Department. The contents of the car were held as evidence.

Between midnight on Sept. 26 and 5 a.m. on Sept. 27, the unknown suspect(s) stole a purse and subwoofer, a speaker that allows listeners to hear and feel low-frequency bass sounds, from a residence. Auto Burglary and Grand Theft--Sept. 27, 11 a.m. on Camino Rico Avenue. Between 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 27, the unknown suspect(s) stole the victim's purse from her locked car. The guilty party left no sign of entry. The suspect(s) left the purse on a neighbor's lawn and took the wallet, which had $280 cash, two credit cards and an unknown amount of signed traveler's checks. The total value of the property taken was $750.
