Two Saratoga residents now play for Air Force, Purdue
Two Saratoga residents have continued in athletics beyond high school and are currently starting in their respective sports.
Breitenbach at Air Force
Former Saratoga aquatics star David Breitenbach is now a senior forward on the water polo team at the Air Force Academy.
The 1998 Saratoga High School graduate will be in the water as a starter for Air Force when the Falcons visit Stanford on Oct. 13 and 14 for the Northern California Invitational. The tournament features the top 16 teams in the nation, including UCLA, USC and UC Berkeley.
Leach at Purdue
Eryn Leach of Saratoga is a sophomore middle hitter on the women's volleyball team at Purdue University this fall. Leach, a four-year varsity standout at Mitty High School, started eight matches for the Boilermakers last season and is expected to be a key player in the front row for Purdue this year.
"We really expect a lot from Eryn," said Purdue head coach Jeff Hulsmeyer of the 6-foot-2- inch Leach. "She's very strong and has an awesome amount of potential."
Leach, 19, registered a season-high 21 spikes in a key win over rival Indiana last November, and led the team in blocks in six different matches.
