    The Joe Sharino Band

The Joe Sharino Band will give a free concert Oct. 14, at the St. Mary's Country Fair.

St. Mary's holds its annual Country Fair at the school

The annual St. Mary's Country Fair fundraiser, of which the title this year is "Millennium Magic," takes place on Oct. 13, on the grounds of St. Mary's School, 219 Bean Ave., Los Gatos. The event benefits St. Mary's Catholic Church, helps offset rising costs and keeps tuition reasonable for the students attending the church's elementary school.

The fair begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, with gourmet food and drink vendors, carnival-style games with prizes, amusement rides, raffles, arts and crafts and live entertainment. An optional spaghetti dinner is also available until 8 p.m. that night; all are welcome.

Saturday's events include the Friday slate all day long, as well as the Star Search 2000 Talent Show at 1 p.m., during which celebrity judges and bystanders can watch local amateur performers compete for cash prizes. From 7 to 10 p.m. that night, the Joe Sharino Band, a local favorite, will play rock & roll classics and other music. The concert is free.

Both nights also include wine- and microbrew-tasting; the vintage of many local wineries are included. On Sunday, the public is invited to a pancake breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. All the other festivities continue.

For directions to the fair or more information, call the church office, 408.354.3944.
