    Coaching Workshop

    A workshop on the psychology of coaching, taught by Dr. Thomas Tutko, will be offered Oct. 13, 14 and 15, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Campbell campus of John F. Kennedy University.

    Tutko, a professor at San Jose State University, is recognized as an expert in the field of sports psychology.

    Pumpkin Run

    The annual 5K-10K Pumpkin Festival Run will return to Half Moon Bay on Oct. 15. Race registration begins at 7 a.m. for the 8 a.m. event. Runners will start at Hatch Elementary School, 490 Miramontes Ave. For more information, call 650.726.4407 or visit www.theschedule.com.

    Pitching Program

    A program for baseball pitchers that covers fundamentals, arm care and defensive skills for youth players ages 9-12 will be held Tuesday evenings, Oct. 17 through Dec. 5, in the gym at West Valley Community College in Saratoga. For more information, call Burch Boehner at 408.615.7957.

    BASHOF Donations

    The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame will donate more than $120,000 in athletic-equipment grants to boys and girls youth sports organizations in the area as part of its youth fund.

    BASHOF has distributed more than $1.6 million in grants through its youth fund since 1981. The grant-application filing period runs through Jan. 31. For information regarding grant applications, call 415.352.8827 or check www.bashof.org.

    Masters Swimming

    The West Valley Swim Club hosts its masters program and lap swimming at the Saratoga High School pool, Monday through Friday, 6-7:30 a.m. and 6-7:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 7-8:30 a.m.

    Swimmers must register with Pacific Masters Swimming. The fee is $5 per swim, $50 for a 20-swim card or $40 per month.
