Gym open to 40+
The small gym at Saratoga High School will be open for basketball for players age 40 and over every Tuesday, 7-9 p.m. The drop-in fee is $3 per night, and new players must show proof of age. For more information, call 408.868.1248.
Diving Training

Youth Basketball
The Saratoga Recreation Department is currently holding registration for youngsters in first-sixth grades interested in playing in the 2000 Saratoga Youth Basketball League.
Games will be played on Saturdays, Jan.8-March 19, and the instructional basketball league will stress fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship. All youngsters will play at least two quarters per game.
Teams in third-sixth grade divisions will practice one evening during the week and each player will receive a uniform shirt and a team picture.
Players in the third and fourth grades will play for teams formed by zones. Players in the fifth and sixth grades will attend a skills-assessment session on Dec. 14 at Saratoga High School to determine team placement.
The first-second division is in its first year and will feature shorter baskets. Teams will practice on Saturdays prior to their games.

Pitching Program
An eight-week fall pitching program for baseball players ages 9-12 will run Tuesday evenings, Oct. 26-Dec. 14, in the gym at West Valley Community College in Saratoga.
The program teaches fundamentals, arm care and defensive skills. Players 9-10 attend at 7 p.m., players 11-12 at 8 p.m.

Pumpkin Run
Celebrate Halloween early by participating in the annual Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Run on Oct. 17, 8 a.m. The event features a 10K run, a 2.4-mile fun run and a half-mile kids' run/walk.
