Saratoga NewsOn CampusGeorge Fox University leaders are elected Saratoga resident Darren Finnecy was recently elected secretary of George Fox University's student government association for the 1997-98 academic year. The interdisciplinary major was chosen in student elections last spring and will serve on the Associated Student Community's Central Committee, which leads student government activities on the campus in Newberg, Ore. Saratogan chosen for fellowship Laney Whitcanack has been chosen to receive a nine-month graduate-level fellowship at the Midwestern Center of the Coro Fellow Program in Public Affairs. Whitcanack is one of 48 participants chosen to be placed in a class of 12 at four national centers--New York, St. Louis, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The program is based on experimental learning such as field assignments, seminars and group public-service projects. The program searches for individuals who demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to public service.
