The schools may be different, and they may play in different leagues, but the girls' tennis teams at Saratoga and Prospect high schools continue to follow parallel courses through the 1997 fall season.

The Falcons won twice last week to maintain their solid hold on second place in the tough De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.

Likewise, the Panthers won a pair of matches to hold onto second in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.

Camille Behnke, Amanda Wise and Lindsay Lightbody each won a pair of matches last week to lead the Falcons to back-to-back wins over Gunn and Monta Vista.

Saratoga pulled out a thrilling 4-3 win over the Titans to open the week. The Falcons lost all three doubles matches, but swept in singles play to clinch the team victory.

Robyn Katzman started Saratoga on the road to victory with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles.

Behnke posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, Wise won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 and Lightbody won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 to give the Falcons all the wins they needed for the triumph.

Saratoga ran its league record to 7-1 and its season mark to 11-3 with a 6-1 win over Monta Vista to close out the week. Los Altos leads the division with an 8-0 record.

Behnke won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, Carolyn Hooper won 0-6, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 and Wise won 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 4 to give the Falcons a 3-1 edge after singles competition.

Lightbody and Kelly Pisani teamed for a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles to lead a Saratoga sweep in pairs play.

Nancy Walker and Jennifer Chao teamed for a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, and Kate Pisani and Eileen Allen won 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.

In other De Anza Division action, Lynbrook lost 7-0 to St. Francis and 6-1 to Gunn to slip to 4-2 in league play. Belinda Rungsea posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles for Lynbrook's only victory in the loss to the Titans.

Prospect, meanwhile, whipped Andrew Hill 5-2 and matched that with a 5-2 win over Pioneer later in the week.

The two wins helped the Panthers improve to 11-1 for the season and to 9-1 in the division.

Sandy Tsui continued her winning ways at No. 1 singles with wins in both matches, and the No. 1 doubles team of Sarah Shaffer and Vinh Lay also won twice. The Prospect No. 1's remain undefeated in league play.

Tsui nailed a 6-4, 6-0 win to lead a singles sweep against Hill. Mariam Malek won 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 singles, Michelle Yi won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3, and Kelly Shaffer won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4.

S. Shaffer and Lay finished off the Falcons with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Tsui rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles in the 5-2 victory over the Mustangs later in the week. Malek won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 and K. Shaffer won 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 at No. 4.
