    Obituary

    Virginia Buckman

Virgina Dorn Buckman of Saratoga, who taught English and special education classes at Los Gatos High School for 34 years, died on Oct. 8 after a long illness. She was 74.

Born in Whittier, she attended elementary and high school there and, after two years at Whittier College, transferred to UCLA, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and graduated in 1946.

She returned to Whittier College for graduate work, earning a master's degree in dramatic art. While there she met her future husband, Rollin E. Buckman, now a professor emeritus of communications studies at San Jose State University. They were married in 1949. She started her teaching career at Los Gatos High the following year. The couple moved to Saratoga in 1954.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Buckman is survived by son Eric Buckman of Santa Cruz; daughter Valerie Buckman of Capitola; brother Melvin Dorn of Pleasanton; sister Roberta Dorn of Edgewater, Md.; and two grandsons.

At her request, there will be no funeral service.
