Kron All-American

Chris Kron, a former all-league football player at Saratoga High, is now a college All-American. But not in football. Kron switched to rugby when he headed off to the University of Arizona, and earned All-American honors.

He recently competed in the national seven-a-side finals, and helped the U.S. Collegiate team to the championship.

Kron played locally for the Los Gatos Rugby Club.

Kluetmeier at Penn

Annie Kluetmeier of Saratoga is a member of the women's soccer team at the University of Pennsylvania. The former Saratoga High standout is a junior goalkeeper for the Quakers, and recorded six straight shutouts to open the season. She recorded 16 saves in the five games, including seven in a win over Cornell.

The Quakers play in the Ivy League.

Locals play at Northwestern

Brice Blatz of Saratoga and Kathryn Breed of Los Gatos are both members of fall sports teams at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

Blatz, a Saratoga resident who attended St. Francis, is a freshman midfielder on the men's soccer team. He averaged two goals and 18 assists per year in two seasons on the St. Francis varsity soccer squad.

Breed is a freshman forward on the women's field hockey team. She was a two-time all-leaguer for the Wildcats, and was the team most valuable player and team captain as a senior for the Wildcats. Breed scored 10 goals and added 15 assists in her final two years at Los Gatos.
