Saratoga NewsVandals strike at Saratoga SchoolBy Michelle Alaimo Two teachers at Saratoga School discovered that working on the weekend sometimes isn't as peaceful as it used to be. Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department officials reported that on Sept. 19 at 5:45 p.m, the Oak Street school was vandalized and a window was broken. According to a police report, teachers heard an "unusual" sound. When they went to investigate in the hallway, the teachers said they saw two young men spraying fire extinguishers. Principal Marybarbara Zorio said the extinguishers were sprayed on the hallway's ceiling and walls and also in a restroom. About the same time, a boy taking his dog for a walk came in to use the restroom and was overcome by the extinguisher spray, which got into his eyes. Zorio said the school's custodian cleaned up the mess after deputies finished searching for clues about the suspects. She added that deputies were able to find shoeprints in the fire-extinguisher discharge on the floor. A nearby witness reported to deputies that he saw two young men leave the area on a bike and in-line skates. A small window on the entrance doors near the playground was also broken and has since been replaced, Zorio said.
