Sheriff's Report
Suspicious Circumstances--Oct. 14, 9:20 a.m. on Tollgate Road. The reporting party called the sheriff's office about a dead deer. The officer arrived at the reporting party's house and saw the deer's internal organs lying on a brick wall in the front yard. The deer's body was about 35 yards away, in the backyard. The reporting party said she and her family were gone the day before until 9 p.m. and that she never saw or heard suspicious activity around the house. The officer took five pictures of the deer and its innards and submitted the photos at the substation.
Drunk in Public--Oct. 13, 4:30 p.m. on Big Basin Way. The suspect sat outside a restaurant, yelling and harassing the patrons and passersby. His body smelled of alcohol. He couldn't stand on his own, and he kept slurring his words. The officer determined that the suspect couldn't take care of himself and arrested him for public drunkenness. The officer booked the suspect into the main jail at about 5:30 p.m.
Lost/Stolen Cell Phone--Oct. 13, 4:25 p.m. in Saratoga. The victim called the sheriff's operations desk to report that her $50 cell phone was lost or stolen. She last saw it on the rear bumper of her car, when the car was being towed from Saratoga to San Jose. When the victim looked for the phone, she couldn't find it. The officer entered the phone into the property system via sheriff's office records. There is no suspect information.
Check Forgery--Oct. 12, 8:40 a.m. on Knollwood Drive. When the victim reviewed her checking account statement for Sept. 1 to Sept. 30, she saw there were five checks listed that she had not written. When she contacted her bank, she learned that an unknown suspect had printed five checks using her account number. The bank sent away for the forged checks and canceled her account. The bank told the victim she should call the sheriff's office to report the forgery.
