Dispose of household hazardous waste
Santa Clara County's department of environmental health will conduct a household hazardous waste event on Oct. 28, at West Valley College, at 14000 Fruitvale Ave., in lot 1. The collection events provide residents with a means of disposing of unwanted household products.
Residents must make an appointment by calling 408.299.7300 to drop off waste between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Montalvo breaks ground for an orchard of artists
A groundbreaking ceremony and site tours for Villa Montalvo's Orchard of Artists, the center's new artist residency complex, will occur on Oct. 26, at 4 p.m.
Parking will be in upper lots 2,3 and 4 with shuttle service to the site.
ODW presents program on Mexican elections
Our Developing World, a nonprofit educational project based in Saratoga, will hold a potluck dinner and program on "Observing the Mexican Elections in Chiapas," on Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at 13004 Paseo Presada in Saratoga.

Remember the Valley of Heart's Delight here
The Saratoga Historical Foundation and the city's Heritage Preservation Commission will present "Remembering the Valley of the Heart's Delight," on Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Saratoga Library community room.
The moderator will be Willys Peck, official city historian and official town character. Invited speakers include the following: David Cox; Kristen Davis, granddaughter of pioneer orchardist, B.T.
