Villa Montalvo to offer artistic look at a classic fable

The Gallery at Villa Montalvo opens a juried exhibition on Nov. 5, titled "Visual Responses to The Little Prince." Juror Howard Junker, editor of ZYZZYVA, has selected 23 West Coast artists whose variations on this theme offer interpretations of the acclaimed fable by French writer and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Complementing this installation is "Envisioning the Cosmos," a smaller exhibition of interpretations and scientific renderings of our solar system and the as-yet-unseen planetary data of the outer cosmos. The featured artist is Lynette Cook; her mediums include acrylic paints, gouache and colored pencils.

The exhibitions run through Dec. 10. A reception, which includes a talk by Junker, takes place Nov. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. The gallery is at 15400 Montalvo Road in Saratoga. For more information, call 408.961.5813.
