Saratoga NewsSports BriefsSaratoga Little League Signups The Saratoga Little League will hold signups for the 1998 season on Nov. 19 and 20, 7-9 p.m. each night, and Nov. 22, 9 a.m.-noon, in the cafeteria at Argonaut School, 13200 Shadow Mountain Drive. The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 1998). Proof of residency (a recent PG&E or phone bill) and a birth certificate for proof of age are required at the registration. Softball Signups The Los Gatos-Saratoga Girls Softball Association will hold signups for the 1998 season on Nov. 12 and 19, 7-9 p.m. each night, at Fisher Middle School, and on Nov. 22, 9 a.m.-noon, at Argonaut School. The league is open to girls ages 7-14. The registration fee is $100 per player ($80 for each additional family member). All players must provide a birth certificate at the registration. Spring training begins in March, and the season ends in June for the teams in the 8-under, 10-under, 12-under and 14-under divisions. For more information, call 291-2148. Quito Little League The Quito Little League will hold signups for the 1998 season on Nov. 12, 18 and 20, 6:30- 9 p.m. each night, in room PE1 at Rolling Hills Middle School on Pollard Road at More. The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 1998). Players must provide a PG&E bill for proof of residency and a birth certificate for proof of age at the registration. Basketball Signups The Saratoga Recreation Department is holding signups for boys and girls in the third- eighth grades interested in playing basketball. Games are played on Saturdays from January through early March. Practices begin on Dec. 2. For more information, call 868-1270. The league also needs coaches for the upcoming season. Adults are needed to teach youngsters the basic fundamentals of basketball and to supervise them during games and practices. The program coordinator will provide training in basic first aid, coaching techniques and philosophy. No experience is necessary, but knowledge of basketball is helpful.
