Watercolors and ceramics featured

From Oct. 29 through Nov. 23, the Aegis Gallery of Fine Art presents "Watercolors and Ceramic Art Pottery of Starr Davis," an exhibit whose theme explores the sculptural qualities between art and nature, dream and reality.

A Saratoga resident, Davis uses the influences of water, sand and tidal erosion in the textures and designs of her clay pieces. She sometimes incorporates shells in these works. Her paintings are on-site sketches done outdoors, often at the coast.

A reception for the artist takes place Nov. 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the gallery, located at 14531 Big Basin Way, #2. Regular hours are 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday; and 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 867-0171.

Saratoga librarians offer some book gift-giving ideas

Six librarians at the Saratoga Library--Peggy Baker, Dolly Barnes, Diana Colby, Nancy Howe, Judy Thompson and Jodie Wiepking--have put together a display of recent books for holiday gift-gifting. The books cover a variety of genres and topics for all age groups. New books from the Saratoga Book Market on Big Basin Way will also be on display.

The librarians offer an informative presentation at 10 a.m., Nov. 3, at the meeting of the Friends of the Saratoga Libraries Group. The public is welcome. The meeting takes place in the Community Room of the library, which is located at 13650 Saratoga Ave. For more information, call the library at 867-6126.
