    Sheriff's Report

    Burglary--Oct. 22, 11:20 a.m. on Marilyn Lane. Over the weekend, the unknown suspect(s) entered a classroom and stole an Epson color printer from the reporting party's desk. The suspect(s) left no sign on forced entry and cleaned up the area where the printer had been. The reporting party was sure she locked one door to the classroom, but wasn't sure if she locked the other. The sheriff's office took numerous fingerprints.

    Missing Person--Oct. 20, 3:15 p.m. on Dent Avenue in San Jose. The victim was supposed to be at her father's house in Saratoga at 2 p.m. The victim, who had a slight mental disability, never arrived. She was last seen at Coco's restaurant at 9 a.m. and frequently used public transportation.

    Burglary--Oct. 20, 10:45 a.m. on Maureen Way. Between 9 p.m. the night before and 7:30 that morning, the unknown suspect entered a garage through an unlocked door and took a purse from the passenger seat of the victim's car. The purse and its contents were worth about $350.

    Identity Theft, Fraudulent Use of Access Card--Oct. 19, 5 p.m. on Quito Road. The unknown suspect(s) stole the victim's personal information to open a cell phone account. The suspect(s) also used an expired credit card number to try to buy items from local retail stores. The victim believes the suspect is an ex-employee who stole the victim's personal information before and is in custody.

    Vandalism--Oct. 19, 4 p.m. on Malcolm Avenue. The unknown suspect tore up 12 square feet of the victim's front lawn. The victim is concerned because of pending court appearances with her ex-husband. She and her neighbors said they saw and heard no one, including the victim's ex-husband, during the night.

    Suspicious Circumstances--Oct. 19, 11:10 a.m. on Big Basin Way. The officer responded to a call of a suspicious package laying next to Bella Saratoga restaurant's dumpster. The package was a 3-foot cylindrical object made of tin. The officer notified radio to dispatch the sheriff's bomb technicians. After the bomb technicians responded, the officer closed the alley that led to the dumpster to prevent pedestrian and car traffic. The bomb technicians took every safety precaution and disassembled the object, which contained no explosive material. They threw the object away in a dumpster.

    Vandalism--Oct. 17, 10:30 a.m. on Kilbride Avenue. The victim has feuded with his next-door neighbor for more than 30 years. On Oct. 15, the victim saw the boards on his side fence pushed down. On the night of Oct. 16, someone entered his back yard and tore up his lawn in two places. There is about $500 of damage. The next-door neighbor said squirrels damaged the victim's lawn and that the fence fell down by itself.

    Misdemeanor Hit and Run--Oct. 16, 2:15 p.m. on Miller Avenue. The night before between 6:30 and 11:30 p.m., an unknown driver unsuccessfully negotiated a slight left curve in the road and drove over and through 45 feet of junipers in the victim's front yard. The front license plate of the victim's car was found at the scene of the collision. The sheriff's office booked the license plate as evidence in the substation evidence locker.
