Saratoga priest, organist performs
The Rev. Dr. Kristin Sundquist, priest and organist at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga, will perform a recital following the evensong service on Nov. 7 at 4 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 20 University Ave., Los Gatos. The service, which includes the observance of All Saints' Sunday, will be led by Mother Andrea Felsovanyi and will feature the women of the St. Luke's choir.
Sundquist performs music illustrating the Magnificat, one of the great canticles of the Episcopal Church. All are welcome. A free-will offering will be received. For more information, call 408.354.2195.
Children's book illustrators are in Montalvo show
The Gallery at Montalvo's newest exhibit, a family-friendly show by three Bay Area artists and children's book illustrators, will take place Nov. 6 through Dec. 5 at 15400 Montalvo Road, Saratoga. San Franciscan Bob Barner, an art instructor who works with pen and ink, watercolor and cut and torn paper, exhibits his illustrations from Dem Bones, To Everything and Bugs! Bugs! Bugs! Laura Regan of Woodside shows a suite of illustrations from her newly published Spots, as well as oil and gouache illustrations from five of her other books. Ashley Wolff, another San Franciscan, exhibits the illustrations of her latest work, Stella and Roy Go Camping, which is set in Yosemite. Wolff, who uses the technique of linocut, will also show three other books.
An artists' reception will take place on Nov. 6 from 3 to 5 p.m.; children are welcome. For information, call 408.961.5813.
Local resident helps to stamp out breast cancer
Saratogan Bonnie Stone and downtown Campbell business owner Linda Leong have merged their skills in support of women with breast cancer. Stone, an award-winning artist, has created 100 signed and numbered stamp sets that are sold exclusively at Leong's The Rubber Stamp Outlet at 411 E. Campbell Ave. The two stamp designs are "Bon Bonnière," a box of bon-bons with ribbons; and "Tipsy Teacups."
Proceeds benefit the Bay Area Breast Cancer Network.
Gathering set for Ruth Barati
A memorial service for yoga teacher Ruth Barati will be held on Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 13601 Saratoga Ave.
Barati, who taught Hatha yoga in Los Gatos and Santa Cruz for 26 years, died of cancer on Sept. 3. She was 83.
She was the widow of internationally known conductor, composer and musician George Barati, who served as the executive director of the Saratoga arts center at Villa Montalvo in the late 1960s.
