Sheriff's Report

Institutional Burglary--Oct. 24, noon, on Saratoga Avenue. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a church and stole $15 in cash. The suspect(s) caused damage to several doors and door frames within the church while forcing entry into the interior offices. The suspect(s) found a cabinet containing all the keys to the church and searched the entire place using the keys. Deputies said it appears the suspect(s) were looking for the safe, since they found the combination.

Vandalism--Oct. 24, noon, on Springer Avenue. The victim awoke and discovered that her front lawn had been vandalized the night before. She doesn't know who did it but told deputies that the previous week, her lawn was also vandalized, but she did not report it. The victim said she recently switched gardeners and that she has a teenage daughter who attends a local high school.

Petty Theft--Oct. 24, 10:30 a.m., on Saratoga Vista Court. A resident reported that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked car in her driveway and took her cellular phone.

Petty Theft--Oct. 23, 4:30 p.m., on a Northwest Airlines flight. A Saratoga resident on a flight from Hawaii to San Francisco International Airport placed her purse under her seat and forgot to remove it when she landed. She later contacted the airline and was told the plane had already been cleaned and no purse had been turned in to the lost and found. Items in her purse included a $3,000 engagement ring, a $200 watch and a camera.

Residential Burglary--Oct. 21, 4:10 p.m., on Shurbert Drive. Unknown suspects attempted to force entry into a residence through numerous doors and two windows. After the forced entries failed, the suspects then broke a rear sliding-glass door using a large rock from the garden. Once inside, the suspects searched the home and took some costume jewelry.
