Don Wolfe won't run for supervisor seat
Don Wolfe, executive director of Silicon Valley Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA), and former mayor of Saratoga, announced Nov. 3 that he will not seek election to the fifth district seat on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, as he had announced in July.
Wolfe would have to leave his position as Trustee on the West Valley-Mission Community College District board if elected to the Board of Supervisors.
Wolfe says he prefers to continue his work with CALA and that the success of the organization's activities has become more exciting and important to him than serving on the county board.
Public hearing set on weed abatement
A public hearing on weed abatement will be held at the City Council meeting Dec. 1 at 7:30 at the Civic Theater.
At the council's Nov. 3 meeting, members passed a resolution declaring weeds growing on certain streets, sidewalks, highways, and private properties to be a public nuisance and possible fire hazard.
The Santa Clara County fire marshal, which administers the abatement program, prepared a list of parcels in Saratoga with excessive weed growth.
At the hearing the council will hear and consider objections to the proposed destruction and removal of weeds. There, provided any objections are resolved, the council will pass another resolution ordering weed abatement to begin.
Community can meet WV-MCCD chancellor
A reception at West Valley College to welcome the new chancellor of the West Valley-Mission Community College District, Linda Graef Salter will be held Nov. 16 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the campus center. Salter will oversee both West Valley College in Saratoga and Mission College in Santa Clara.
In June, trustees of the district selected Salter, who was formerly president of Skyline College in the San Mateo County Community College District for 13 years.
