Forum had a relatively large, respectful audience
I, too, attended the Saratoga Fire District's commissioner candidate forum and saw it from a slightly different perspective from Mr. Oakley Brooks, who wrote about the forum in the Oct. 31 issue of the Saratoga News. I thought I counted more than 50 people present, rather than 30. It was a pleasant surprise to have such a relatively large audience for such a relatively small election.
I don't believe Mrs. Bunyard cut off the questions because of a rambunctious audience. Although each pair of candidates had its partisans present, they were all quite well-mannered and polite. Rather, she stopped the proceedings because all of the pertinent questions had been asked and answered. Those questions that did not make it to the floor were deemed too personal or too repetitive to be asked.
I realize that by the time this letter is printed the election will be long over. Nevertheless, I wanted to express my viewpoint.

Reader finds a face to to go with the name
I'm 17 and live in Los Lunas, N. M. I'm writing concerning Nicole Miller and her family. I came across the name Nicole Miller through a Mercy Band. Mercy Bands were started so people could get involved personally with the victims of Sept. 11 by prayer. Wearing the band reminds you to pray for that person's--Nicole's--family daily. Your online paper has helped me find out family members' and friends' names that I can pray for. It has made my prayers more personal for me as well as for the ones I pray for.
When I first received my bracelet, it read, "Nicole Miller, UA # 93." I immediately had chills run up and down my body. I instantly wanted to put a face to the name. So to the computer I went. She was so young and such a beautiful young lady. Tears began to fill my eyes. How do I pray for a family that lost a loved one so close to them? She was a daughter to a mother, she was a sister to some, and she was a friend to others. I continue to pray for Nicole's family and friends.
I'm writing to you in hope of help. If there's any way possible, I would like to write to Nicole's family. I have no idea where to send a letter or how to reach them. My Mom mentioned writing a local newspaper. If you could help in any way, I would be most grateful. If there's any way, could you get it to them or send me an address of Nicole's family. If anything, just tell them a girl in New Mexico is praying for them.
