    Sheriff's Report

Burglary--Nov. 5, 10:25 a.m. on Saratoga Avenue. The reporting party told the officer that someone entered her office and stole $215 in cash over the weekend. The unknown suspect(s) pried open storage closets and a file cabinet to take the money, but left portable stereos.

Driving Under the Influence/Lying to a Peace Officer--Nov. 3, 11:15 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. An anonymous party reported three cars racing and "doing donuts" near Neale's Hollow. The officer stopped two cars pulling out of the driveway that matched the reporting party's description and contacted both drivers. The drivers and passengers were under the influence of alcohol. The officer arrested the juvenile driver and the passenger of one car, while another officer arrested the adult driver of the second car.

Grand Theft--Nov. 1, 12:25 p.m. on Heritage Oak Drive. The victim called the sheriff's office and said that about $5,800 worth of construction equipment, including a $5,000 Mikasa orange wacker, was stolen from his work site. He identified no suspects.

Under the Influence and Possession of a Controlled Substance--Nov. 1, 10 a.m. on Prospect Road. The sheriff's office searched the suspect because someone saw him earlier that day coming from an area off campus where other students had been caught using drugs. The suspect had small plastic bags of "crystal meth" and marijuana in his cigarette pack. He showed several signs of being under the influence of a stimulant--his pupils were dilated, his pulse was fast and his skin was cool and clammy.

Under the Influence of a Stimulant--Oct. 31, 4:03 a.m. on Afton Avenue. An anonymous reporting party called the sheriff's office about a suspicious vehicle at Afton and Carrick streets. The reporting party said that two people were parked at the intersection in a burgundy compact car. The officer responded and saw a burgundy Saturn driving east of Carrick and McCoy Avenue. When the officer stopped the car, the occupants admitted to being parked at the intersection of Afton and Carrick. One of them had a confirmed out-of-state warrant from Nevada.

Vandalism--Oct. 30, 2:30 p.m. on Lynde Avenue. The reporting party said that between Oct. 29 at 5:45 p.m. and Oct. 31 at 2:30 p.m., the unknown suspect(s) entered a classroom and marked the walls with a dry erase marker. The room door lock was inoperative.

Vandalism--Oct. 30, 10:45 a.m. on Prospect Road. While on routine patrol, an officer found that a fence behind an auto supply store had been spray-painted with large balloon letters that looked to be either "JOKR" or "JZEY." The officer took a photo of the graffiti, gave the report number to the assistant manager of the store and booked the photo into evidence. The officer then called the nearest high school and talked to a dean. The officer gave him a copy of the photo and asked that the school call the sheriff's office if anyone saw the "tag" at the high school.

Burglary--Oct. 29, 4:20 p.m. on Prospect Road. A deputy stopped the suspect Oct. 27 and found that she possessed numerous stolen items and a set of master keys to a church. Although the suspect said she worked at the church, she couldn't say the names of the church or the pastor. Another officer contacted the pastors of the two congregations that operate at the church and found that numerous burglaries had been committed there. The church was missing many items, including cameras/video equipment, checks and money. The items were taken on various dates.

Vandalism--Oct. 26, 6 p.m. on Lynde Avenue. Between Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. and Oct. 29 at 8 a.m., the unknown suspect(s) used a rock to break the lock of a storage container at a school. The suspect(s) opened the container, but didn't steal anything. School personnel saw the container open Oct. 29 at about 8:30 a.m.
