Eliza Fischer
Saratoga resident Eliza Dean "Jonnie" Cotterell Skidmore Fischer died Oct. 6, following a long illness. She was 89.
Born Oct. 15, 1910, in Evanston, Ill., Fisher lived in Saratoga since 1958, when she and her late husband Merrill Skidmore moved here from North Hollywood. She was a graduate of the UCSF School of Nursing; served on local, regional and national committees for the Girls Scouts of America; was a past president of the Montalvo Service Group and belonged to the Saratoga Federated Church and Saratoga Foothill Club.
Survivors include husband Robert Fischer of Saratoga; daughters Marilyn Pearson and Diane Titov of San Francisco and Patricia Ebaugh of Rancho Mirage; stepson Robert Fischer of San Jose; stepdaughter Barbara Hoagland of El Sobrante; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Omer Lee Cotterell of San Bruno and sister Lucille Cotterell Gilmore of Portland, Ore.
Memorial services have been held. Donations may be made to the Girl Scouts.
Carole Nogle
Former Saratoga resident Carole T. Nogle, who had been living in Estes Park, Colo., died Oct. 27, of complications following recent surgery. She was 64.
Nogle was born July 22, 1936, in Portland, Maine, and was descended from Mayflower passengers and belonged to the Mayflower Society in Portland. She graduated from Simmons College in Boston with a degree in physical therapy. She worked as a physical therapist before and during the early years of her marriage to husband Vern Nogle. The couple lived for 20 years in Saratoga and 12 years in Germany before settling in Estes Park two years ago.
Survivors include husband Vern Nogle of Estes Park; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Tammie Nogle of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter Debi Nogle of Campbell; grandson Hunter Nogle of Tulsa, Okla.; and brother Harlan Turner of Boise, Idaho.
Memorial services have been held.
