    Marvin Becker a cartoonist?

I would like to thank Marvin Becker after reading his letter to the editor in the Nov. 3 issue of the Saratoga News that outlined a number of cartoon ideas that DeCinzo might have used. If Mr. DeCinzo shared Mr. Becker's political philosophy and Mr. Becker's sense of satire, I would have a much better understanding why Mr. DeCinzo is a political cartoonist and Mr. Becker is not.

    Modified mufflers create disturbance

I'd like to share my opinion on one aspect of motorcycles that really gets on my nerves. This concerns the noise created by bikes with modified or nonexistent mufflers. They can create such a noise as to interfere with conversations taking place a quarter mile away.

Let me put this into perspective. Any vehicle driven on a daily basis passes within close proximity to thousands of people. An excessively loud motorcycle will annoy each one of those individuals.

The result is a situation in which a single individual annoys thousands of others on a daily basis. How many other activities exist with such a high annoyance ratio?

Come on, people, grow up. Find other forms of macho expression that don't bother everyone nearby. The majority of bikes on the road are not so audibly annoying, so I have to believe that standard factory muffling of a bike doesn't infringe on its ability to generate power to any significant degree.

Aren't there laws that should keep them off our streets? If there are laws, why aren't they enforced?
