Saratoga NewsBaseball camp at Stanford; signups, tryouts coming upA series of Stanford holiday baseball camps will be offered in November and December. Hitting and defensive instruction will be offered over Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 27-29, and there will be pitching, hitting and defensive camps over Christmas vacation Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 27-29. The camps are open to players ages 13-18, and the cost is $100 per session. For information, call Stanford assistant baseball coach Mark O'Brien at 650/723-4528. Other area baseball and softball information: Softball Tryouts The San Jose Lynx will hold tryouts for their 10-and-under and 12-and-under girls' summer A league teams. Tryouts are slated for Dec. 6, 1 p.m., at the Willow Glen High School field. Quito Little League The Quito Little League is holding signups for the 1999 season. The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 1999). Players must provide a birth certificate for proof of age, and parents must provide a PG&E bill and driver's license for proof of residency at registration. For information, call the Quito hotline at 943-4707 or visit the league's website at www.quitoll.org. Saratoga Little League The Saratoga Little League is holding signups for the 1999 season. Players must provide a birth certificate for proof of age and must provide for proof of residency (a PG&E, water or phone bill) when they register. For more information, call the league hotline at 236-2678. Pony-Colt Signups The Saratoga Pony-Colt baseball league is holding signups for players ages 13-16. Pony League is open to players ages 13-14, and Colt League is for players ages 15-16. The Colt season begins in late May after the completion of the high school season. For information, call Bruce Behnke at 867-5170. Girls Softball Signups The Los Gatos-Saratoga Girls Softball Association is holding signups. The registration fee is $100 per player, and youngsters must provide proof of age.
