Saratoga NewsVillage BriefsArtist Tree II now up at Aegis Gallery The members of Saratoga's Aegis Gallery have created their second annual holiday group exhibition titled "Artist Tree II." Some, but not all, of the artwork hanging from the tree is designed around holiday imagery. Artwork from the group show can also be found in other parts of the gallery's main room. Items include handmade ornaments, angels, lavender sachets, wands, baskets, jewelry, metal sculpture, photography, ceramics and paintings in mediums such as watercolor and oil. A reception takes place Nov. 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. The exhibit runs through Dec. 27. Aegis Gallery is located at 14531 Big Basin Way, Unit 2. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Saratoga High holds Elizabethan festival On Dec. 12, the Saratoga High School choir invites the community to attend "An Elizabethan Festival," an event that simulates a traditional holiday repast from the Elizabethan era. This includes food and drink, dramatic interludes and music performed by the SHS choir and orchestra. The entry to the cafeteria will be transformed into a 16th-century country fair, with gifts for sale and children's games. The event begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for students. Proceeds benefit the SHS choir. Patrons are encouraged to dress in period costumes, such as what they might wear to a Renaissance Faire. Tickets are expected to sell out early. Their project is part of a wider effort coordinated by City Team Ministries of San Jose. Saratogans Kristin Bowman and Helen Kane have already set up boxes at several locations in town to collect new or gently used shoes, and have already received several hundred pairs of donations.
