Saratoga NewsLettersCouncil could have avoided litigation I'm pleased that the council majority now appears to believe that the city should place signs along Saratoga Creek regarding pollution, give residents information about creek pollution, try to determine the source of the pollution and explore the abandonment of septic tanks. These are the same requests Don Whetstone made to the city on Sept. 16, 1992--15 months after the effluent discharges were first reported to the City Council and city staff. How sad that the council majority and city staff members at that time--as well as those in the subsequent five years--did not respond to these requests. If they had done so, there would have been no litigation regarding the creek pollution.
Dora Grens The council needs to take stand on Internet access We want to thank Saratoga citizens Teri Jones and Ray Froess for speaking out on children's access to pornography at the Saratoga Community Library. We feel they have expressed our feelings and those of many of our friends in the community. We are appalled at the politically correct, unanimous decision of the Library Commission not to accept any responsibility for protecting children from pornography while at the library. Where do our City Council members stand on this fundamental issue? Will they take a strong stand for our children like they do for zoning houses? It seems to us they have it squarely in their laps since they appointed the Library Commission, have a representative on the county commission and are supporting the library bond issue. At this point, we could not support the Saratoga Library bond issue if it means expanding pornographic access for children in our city library.
