    Liu picked for team

Erica Liu of De Anza Cupertino Aquatics was one of 14 swimmers named to the 2002 USA National Junior Team that will compete in Rome, Italy.

Liu was selected to the team after finishing eighth in the 100-meter breast and 11th in the 200 breast at the summer nationals. She was 18th in the 100 breast at the spring nationals. She is ranked 83rd in the world in her age division in the 200 breast and was the Outstanding Age Group Swimmer in the Pacific Swimming Association in 1999-00.

Liu, 15, is a sophomore at Mitty High School and is the daughter of Jim and Tina Liu of Saratoga.

    Youth Baseball

The Saratoga Little League and Saratoga Pony League baseball programs are holding registration for the 2002 season in all divisions. Little League baseball divisions range from T-ball to majors (to 12 years old), and Pony League is for players ages 13-14.

The leagues are also looking for coaches and umpires for the coming season.

For information on the programs, call the Saratoga baseball hotline at 408.794.0279.

    Looking for info

Saratoga News' preseason questionnaires and letters requesting rosters, schedules and information on winter teams have gone out to coaches of all high school and junior college sports for the winter season. Only a few of the questionnaires have been returned.

Coaches are urged to respond to our request by fax (408.354.3917), mail (P.O. Box 65, Los Gatos, CA 95031) or email (dispar@aol.com) as soon as possible so that we can begin coverage. Those coaches who did not receive the letter and questionnaire should contact Dick Sparrer at 408.978.9665 or at one of the numbers or addresses above.
