The 100-piece Saratoga Community Band is preparing for its annual Winter Concert that takes place on Dec. 4, at 8 p.m. in the West Valley College Theater, 14000 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga. Passagio Chorale brings its youthful voices to Saratoga

Ranging in age from seven to 18, the members of Passagio Chorale are coming to Westhope Presbyterian Church, 12850 Saratoga Ave. on Dec. 3. They will sing in a 10:45 a.m. service whose congregation have both Westhope congregants and members of a Taiwanese-American Presbyterian congregation.

Passagio Chorale--passagio means "rite of passage" in Italian--is a chorale in its third season whose focus is on developing excellence, discipline and musical education in young musicians and singers. The youth also engage in mentoring partnerships with professional musicians. In November 1999, the group released its first CD, In Heavenly Peace: Christmas Songs for Soprano, Harp and Children's Voices.
