Players must provide a birth certificate for proof of age and must provide proof of residency (a PG&E, water or phone bill) when they register. For more information, call the league hotline at 236-2678. Stanford Baseball A pair of Stanford holiday baseball camps will be offered in December. Hitting, pitching and defensive instruction will be offered over Christmas vacation on Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 27-29. The camps are open to players ages 13-18, and the cost is $100 per sessions. Quicksilver Volleyball The Quicksilver Volleyball Club will hold final tryouts for the club season on Dec. 5 for girls ages 12-14 and Dec. 6 for girls ages 15-18 at the main gym at San Jose City College. Youth basketball The Saratoga Recreation Department will host a youth basketball league for boys and girls in grades 3-8. Youth league games will be played on Saturdays Jan. 9- March 30 at Saratoga High School and Redwood Middle School. The instructional league stresses basketball fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship. Everybody plays at least two quarters per game. Third- and fourth-grade teams will be formed by zones. Players in grades 5-8 will attend a skills assessment sesson on Dec. 12 at Redwood to determine team placement. Teams in all divisions will practice one evening per week during the season, and each player will receive a uniform shirt. For information on any of the Saratoga basketball progams, call 868-1248. Pitching Clinic Former local fast-pitch superstar Whitney Floyd will host lessons and clinics for girls' softball pitchers. Floyd starred locally at Lynbrook High School and went on to All-American status at UC-Berkeley. She is now on the coaching staff at Santa Clara University. For more information, call 554-5063. Quito Little League The Quito Little League is holding signups for the 1999 season. The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of July 31, 1999). Players must provide a birth certificate for proof of age, and parents must provide a PG&E bill and driver's license for proof of residency at registration. Pony-Colt Signups The Saratoga Pony-Colt baseball league is holding signups for players ages 13-16. Pony League is open to players ages 13-14, and Colt League is for players ages 15-16. Girls Softball Signups The Los Gatos-Saratoga Girls Softball Association is holding signups. The registration fee is $100 per player, and youngsters must provide proof of age.
