Saving starts early

Foothill School has added a new program to its curriculum called "Save at School." The program was unveiled to third- through fifth-graders on Oct. 2 by State Treasurer Matt Fong (above) during a ceremony in the school's cafeteria. Mayor Gillian Moran and members of the Saratoga Union School District were also on hand for the event. Foothill School is the first school in the area to start the new savings program, which teaches money management skills to students using a 12-lesson curriculum. Foothill began working with Saratoga National Bank in November in opening savings accounts for students. The school plans to host savings days during which students bring in their deposits. A representative from the bank will visit the school at least once a month to pick up the deposits.
