Tea and Kimonos at Hakone

Mizutani, left, and Kawano Noriko prepare green tea powder for a tea ceremony conducted Nov. 19 at Hakone Gardens, following a kimono fashion show. The fête was hosted by Satsuki Kai, a Japanese women's club founded 40 years ago to help Japanese women adjust to American culture. The club now furthers cultural exchange between the United States and Japan and does community-service work. Akiko Nanao, wife of the consul general of Japan, attended the event and serves as Satsuki Kai's honorary president.
