Saratoga NewsWiseman leads Vikings to 2ndFormer Westmont stars Lisa Renteria and Serena Delaplace helped the West Valley Community College women's cross-country team race to a second-place finish at the state championships held last week at Woodward Park in Fresno. Rachel Wiseman was 10th in 19:16 in the 230-runner field to lead the Vikings to a team second behind Orange Coast. Renteria finished 13th in 19:23 on the 3.5 mile-course, with Anniken Iversen 18th in 19:35, Lydia Berlage 29th in 19:50 and Delaplace 30th in 19:51. Orange Coast won the title with a low 64 points. West Valley was second at 100, with San Diego Mesa third at 133. In men's competition, Juan Miramontes raced to an individual eighth for the Vikings, covering the four-mile men's course in 20:47.
