Classes offer look at tea ceremonies
Saratoga's Hakone Gardens offers a monthly introductory Japanese tea ceremony class as part of the various programs it arranges during the year dealing with arts, culture and wellness.
Hosted by Aiko Tauchi, a classically trained tea professor, the class and ceremony take place the first Thursday of each month in the Cultural Exchange Center's tea room. Theatrical group to hold auditions
The West Valley Light Opera Association will hold auditions for the second production of its 37th season, Sister Amnesia's Country Western Nunsense Jamboree, on Dec. 8 and 9, with callbacks on Dec. 11.
There are openings for four women and one man; all auditioners should prepare a song and bring their own sheet music for the accompanist. Auditioners should also be prepared to move and dance. Call 408.356.7340 or 408.749.6641 for audition times or more information.
Decorate Saratoga is coming to town
The 7th annual Decorate Saratoga holiday home decorating competition, sponsored by the Saratoga Retirement Community and the Saratoga News, is almost here. The contest is open to both residential and commercial buildings. The deadline to enter is Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. SRC residents will select the best of the best on Dec. 19, with prizes for the top three winners. For more information, call 408.867.3891.
