Students in Nancy Artru's second-grade class at Foothill School share what the holidays mean for them.
Tracy Fan: To celebrate Thanksgiving my family and I went to Disneyland. We were suppose to go to Disneyland on my birthday, but my parents said, "We are going to Disneyland on Thanksgiving day!" Every year when Thanksgiving day comes, we always go to Disneyland! Last year when my family and I went to Disneyland, we had a big chicken for dinner! I think this year we will have a bigger chicken for dinner.
Timothy Liao: To celebrate Chinese New Year my family and I go to see the dragon dance. At night my mom invites friends to our house to eat dinner and play with me. On the way there, my mom tells me stories about Chinese New Year. I like Chinese New Year.
Chris Govers: My family celebrates Christmas by having my cousins come over. At night I play chess with my cousins. Then we go to sleep. My cousins are in high school and college. In the morning we eat eggs and bacon and milk, and then my cousins watch basketball. They play basketball. We eat lunch together. It is fun to see them.
Jonathan S. Kuo: I like to celebrate Chinese New Year. I like it because we get red envelopes and new clothes. The red envelopes are filled with money! In Taiwan, they light off firecrackers. When we do the Dragon Dance it is very fun, but to other people it isn't fun because it is hard work. Around Chinese New Year my Grandpa will come. I like Chinese New Year.
Sky Cutler: When I celebrate Thanksgiving, I visit my cousins. We play video games and we play hockey and football and we like to sneak in to the girls bedroom and we enjoy watching the game.
Lisa Burley: The first thing I do is put up a tree. Next, I leave cookies for Santa Claus. Then I wrap presents, and last I decorate the house. Christmas is my favorite holiday.
Jenna Anderson: My family and I celebrate Christmas because it's our favorite holiday of the year. I like Christmas because I get lots of presents for Christmas and my Grandma comes over. And we play games and have a big dinner. We have steak and peas and mashed potatoes. Also we have lots of drinks to drink. We have apple cider, too.
