Choral group performs a Saratoga Christmas show
The Mountain View-based chorus Schola Cantorum invites the community to attend a holiday concert titled All That Brass on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 13601 Saratoga Ave. in Saratoga.
The group's annual Christmas offering, led by music director Gregory Wait, features the Menlo Brass Quintet, a popular Bay Area instrumental ensemble. The quintet is known for its wide range of genres, including baroque, classical, Broadway, Dixieland, jazz, popular music and, in this case, holiday melodies.
The holiday program at St. Andrew's includes brass arrangements of Christmas favorites, as well as choral works by composers such as Poulenc and Palestrina. Traditional sing-alongs are also part of the bill. Founded in 1964, Schola Cantorum is a nonprofit adult choral ensemble that performs throughout the Bay Area. It also offers various music education programs.
Admission to All That Brass is $18 for adults, $13 for senior citizens and $6 for students and children. Tickets are available in advance by calling 650.254.1700, or by visiting www.scholacantorum.org on the Internet. Tickets are also available at the door.
